I'm Hooked On Weekly Grocery Ads
I'm hooked on grocery ads. Yes, the bunch of papers stuffed into our mailbox. I get as excited with them as I used to when I had a magazine subscription.
Alongside the time I spend reading books (on paper because I still can’t sync with the e-format), there is always a time and a place for those colorful and appetizing pages that smell like savings; that once a week become my reading companion.
My MO is as follows: spread all the weekly ads in my dining room table, get my iced latte (I know!), notebook and pen in hand and start caressing the bargains I find in each sheet.
It’s true that I go to several supermarkets to make my grocery shopping, but I do it with a smile from ear to ear as I imagine myself in a supermarket challenge trying to make the most out of my money. When I get home, I’m happy with my frugality. Those 25¢ here and a dollar there, add up. My piggybank knows it, and the rewards are gratifying.
I don’t buy just for the sake of it although sometimes it looks like I’m stocking up for a hurricane with the BOGO deals, it’s all part of a strategy, thinking ahead of my next purchase, trying to distract my budget and saving where and how I can.
Sometimes I think that these are old lady habits, or how my perspective has changed, but then I see that I have extra money and it doesn’t bother me anymore.
